Shipping Tips — Portugal to Croatia

1

Quoted transit varies more on this route than on most. Services quote anywhere between 3–9 days and 6–7 days, and the fastest is not always the dearest — read the delivery estimate next to each price rather than assuming they rank together.

2

Croatia adopted the euro in January 2023, so there is no longer any kuna conversion on declared values. Older shipping guides that mention kuna are out of date.

3

No customs paperwork applies — Croatia has been in the EU since 2013.

4

Croatia has a long coastline and over a thousand islands. Island addresses such as Hvar, Korčula or Brač depend on ferry schedules and can add a day or two beyond the mainland estimate.

5

Deliveries to the Dalmatian coast peak heavily in summer. If you are shipping to a holiday address in July or August, allow more time than the quoted estimate.

6

Volumetric weight applies — a light but bulky box is priced on its size.

FAQ — Shipping to Croatia

How long does it take to send a parcel from Portugal to Croatia?

Economy road services quote between 3–9 days depending on which service you choose, with the mid-range options around 5–7 business days. Express air quotes 3 days. The spread between services is wider on this route than most, so it is worth comparing the delivery estimates directly rather than sorting on price alone.

How much does it cost to send a parcel to Croatia?

Economy road from Portugal starts at around €26 for a 2 kg box, about €37 for 5 kg and about €48 for 10 kg. Express air is considerably more. Prices depend on the box dimensions as well as weight because volumetric weight applies, so get a live quote for your actual parcel.

Do I need customs forms to send a parcel to Croatia?

No. Croatia has been an EU member since 2013 and adopted the euro in 2023. Goods travel from Portugal in free circulation with no customs declaration, commercial invoice or EORI number. Excise goods such as tobacco and spirits above 24% ABV are the exception.

Can you deliver to the Croatian islands?

Yes, though island addresses depend on ferry connections. Hvar, Brač, Korčula, Vis and the smaller islands are all served, but the final leg runs on the ferry timetable and can add a day or two to the mainland estimate — more in winter when sailings are reduced.

What is the correct address format for a parcel to Croatia?

Croatian addresses run: Recipient name / Street name and house number / Postcode and city / CROATIA. For example: Ivan Horvat / Ilica 42 / 10000 Zagreb / CROATIA. Croatian postcodes are five digits — Zagreb is 10000, Split 21000, Rijeka 51000 and Dubrovnik 20000. Include the recipient's mobile number.

What is Croatian VAT?

Croatian VAT is called PDV. The standard rate is 25%, one of the highest in the EU, with reduced rates of 13% and 5%. If you sell to Croatian consumers and your cross-border B2C sales across the EU exceed €10,000 a year, register for OSS in Portugal and charge 25% on those orders. For B2B, apply the reverse charge using the customer's Croatian VAT number.

How do returns from Croatia to Portugal work?

A return is an ordinary intra-EU shipment with no customs paperwork, taking a similar 3–9 business days back. Book a return label and the recipient can hand the parcel to a driver or drop it at a collection point. EU consumer law gives Croatian consumers 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase.
