The more you ship per month, the lower your rate per shipment. Tiers are usually based on total monthly spend or parcel count.

Lane-specific pricing

Your rate card is tailored to your regular lanes (e.g., Portugal to Germany). Rates for lanes you use most are optimised first.

Carrier mix

Splitting volume across multiple carriers (DHL for express, DPD for economy) often gives better overall rates than using a single carrier.

Fixed fuel surcharge

Business accounts can negotiate a fixed fuel surcharge percentage for a 6 or 12-month period, removing monthly pricing uncertainty.

VAT & tax treatment

Shipping within Portugal is subject to 23% VAT. Intra-EU shipping services are generally zero-rated for VAT purposes.

Claims process

Fuel Surcharge for Business Accounts

Business accounts can lock in a fixed fuel surcharge percentage for quarterly or annual contracts. This protects your cost projections from monthly fuel price fluctuations. Without a locked rate, the fuel surcharge is updated monthly in line with the published IATA fuel price index (for air) or Rotterdam bunker price (for sea).

Is there a minimum monthly spend for a business account?

No minimum spend is required to open a business account. However, volume-tier discounts kick in at €200–€500 of monthly spend. The more you ship, the better your rate.

Can I use the same account for multiple business locations?

Yes. Business accounts support multiple sender addresses and cost centres. Each user can have their own login with controlled access.

How does invoicing work?

All shipments in a calendar month are consolidated into a single PDF invoice sent on the 1st of the following month, with 30-day payment terms by bank transfer or direct debit.

Do I need to integrate an API?

No. The web platform is fully functional without API integration. For businesses shipping 50+ parcels/day, our REST API allows direct integration with WooCommerce, Shopify, SAP, and custom ERP systems.

What carriers are available on a business account?

Business accounts have access to all 20+ carriers on the Cargosender platform: DHL, UPS, FedEx, DPD, GLS, TNT, Chronopost, CTT Expresso, and specialist freight carriers for pallets and sea freight.
