How to Pack Bicycles for Shipping
Get a bike-specific cardboard box
The ideal box is 150×80×25cm (a standard road/mountain bike box). Ask your local bike shop — they receive bikes in these boxes and often give them away for free or sell for €5. Alternatively, buy specialist bike shipping boxes online. Never use a too-small box that forces the bike in at an angle.
Disassemble partially
Remove both wheels, pedals (use a 15mm spanner — left pedal is reverse thread), and handlebars (or turn handlebars sideways and secure to frame). Drop the saddle to its lowest position. This is the minimum required to fit a bike in a standard box.
Protect the frame and drivetrain
